BUBT Futsal Champions League 2026

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) successfully hosted the BUBT Futsal Champions League 2026 from April 10 to 16, 2026. The tournament marked a landmark moment in the university's sporting history, bringing together students, teachers, officers, and staff members across three separate categories, with a total of 18 teams competing throughout the week-long event.

One of the most distinctive features of this year's tournament was the Player Auction held for the very first time in BUBT's history on April 16, 2026. Prior to the auction, on April 7, 2026, team owners were selected through a lottery system from among third and fourth-year students. Eight students were chosen as owners of the eight competing teams: BUBT Padma Blaze, BUBT Meghna Warriors, BUBT Turag Rangers, BUBT Teesta Thunders, BUBT Jamuna Giants, BUBT Surma Titans, BUBT Karnaphuli Stars, and BUBT Rupsha Riders. Students from various departments then registered as players and were acquired by team owners through the auction, adding a professional and exciting dimension to the competition.

Eight auction-based teams competed fiercely in the men's category throughout the tournament. The final, held on April 16, 2026, saw BUBT Turag Rangers and BUBT Karnaphuli Stars go head to head in a tightly contested battle. After an intense and closely fought match, BUBT Karnaphuli Stars emerged as champions with a narrow 1-0 victory.

The tournament's joint top scorers were Alif Al Mursaleen of BUBT Padma Blaze and Al-Emran of BUBT Meghna Warriors. Sajid (CSE) of BUBT Karnaphuli Stars was named the Best Goalkeeper, while his teammate Biplob (LAW) claimed the title of Best Player of the Tournament.

Four faculty-based teams represented the women's category, with the final contested between the Faculty of LAW and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. In an exciting finish, the Faculty of LAW claimed victory and were crowned champions.

Mst Emu Khatun of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and Tanzila Disha of the Faculty of Law shared the honour of joint top scorer. Lamia of the Faculty of Law was awarded Best Goalkeeper, and Sumaiya, also of the Faculty of Law, was named Best Player of the Tournament.

Six teams representing teachers, officers, and staff members competed in the third category. The final was played between the Staff Team and the Faculty of Engineering, with the Faculty of Engineering taking the title.

Nasirul Mumenin of the Faculty of Engineering was the category's top scorer. Altaf of the Staff Team was recognised as the Best Goalkeeper, and Syed Shihab Ul Mulk of the Faculty of Engineering was named Best Player of the Tournament.

Following the conclusion of the final matches on April 16, 2026, a prize giving ceremony was held to honour the champions and award recipients across all three categories. Crests and prizes were distributed among the winning teams and individual award winners.

The BUBT Futsal Champions League 2026 has been widely praised as a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and university spirit, setting a new benchmark for inter-departmental sporting events at BUBT.
