The Department of Management at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized two back-to-back career-focused sessions on 18 June 2026 at the International Conference Hall, BUBT, with the aim of helping students prepare for professional life beyond the classroom. More than 130 students from the Faculty of Business participated in the sessions.

The day began with a workshop titled “Beyond the CV: Building Your Professional Presence on LinkedIn”, held from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. The workshop focused on helping students understand how they can build a strong and authentic professional identity on LinkedIn. Led by Fardin Helal, Lecturer, Department of Management, BUBT, the session included hands-on activities on LinkedIn profile optimization, meaningful professional networking, and personal branding through thoughtful content creation.

Rather than treating LinkedIn simply as an online CV, the workshop encouraged students to use the platform to communicate their interests, skills, ideas, and professional goals. Students actively worked on improving their profiles and explored practical ways to connect with professionals and build meaningful networks. The session concluded with a competitive quiz, adding an interactive and engaging element to the learning experience.

The second session, held from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, was part of the Vice Chancellor Lecture Series and was titled “Corporate Career Pathways: Opportunities and Growth.” The session was organized by the Department of Management in collaboration with the BUBT Research Graduate School.

The keynote speaker was Afzalur Rahman, First Vice President, Products – Digital Banking, City Bank Ltd. Drawing on his extensive corporate experience, Mr. Rahman conducted an interactive session on navigating corporate careers and succeeding in professional environments. Students had the opportunity to learn about workplace expectations, professional growth, and practical approaches to building a successful corporate career. The session also allowed students to gain insights and practical tips directly from an experienced corporate professional.

Together, the two sessions offered students a broader perspective on career preparation. While the morning workshop focused on building a professional identity and presence, the afternoon lecture addressed performing and growing effectively within the corporate environment. This combination reflected the Department of Management’s effort to prepare students not only with academic knowledge but also with the practical skills, professional awareness, and confidence needed beyond university.
