Professional Summary

Prof Dr K Ahmed Alam has a 23-year career of teaching, academic administration, and research at the university level. Currently, he is Professor in the Department of English, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science, and Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Bangladesh University of Business and technology (BUBT). Formerly, he was Professor of English, Dean in the Faculty of Science and Humanities, and Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Bangladesh Army International University of Science and Technology (BAIUST), Cumilla. Before that, he had been Associate Professor and Head/ Chairperson in the Department of English at reputed private universities. He did his PhD in the Department of English, Jahangirnagar University. His areas of interest include Writing, Pedagogy, Postcolonial/ Commonwealth Literature, Dalit Literature, Critical Theory, Cultural Studies, and Translation Studies. He has published a good number of articles in local and international research journals. He has already participated in numerous international conferences. His published book, Anubadbidya: Itihas O Tattwa (Translation Studies: History and Theory), attracts the attention of the students and academics of the country. He has recently published a book of Bamgla poems, titled Nakkhotromanobi O Kotipoy Ponktimala (A Celestial Woman and Some Verses). He has also completed a manuscript—A Handbook for Theory Beginners. Very often, he writes in esteemed Weeklies and Dailies on literature, literary theory, and contemporary issues. Besides, he is an OBE curriculum developer and a Trainer for Quality Assurance, Pedagogy, OBE Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Preparedness for Attaining Accreditation.
