Program Structure

B. Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at BUBT is a Four-year full time program consisting of
12 (twelve) regular semesters each of 4 (four) months duration. To complete the degree program, a
student will require to earn 154.5 credits consisting of 120 theory credits, 30.00 lab credits, 4.50
thesis/senior project credits and a 0 (zero) credit remedial course.

Courses offered in the undergraduate program are divided into 8(Eight) categories:

i) English, ii) Mathematics, iii) General Education, iv) Basic Sciences, v) Interdisciplinary
Engineering Courses, vi) Compulsory Remedial Course, vii) Program Core Courses, viii) Elective
Courses. The elective courses are designed to give the students advanced knowledge leading to
immediate industrial application and research in the chosen fields. There are 4 (four) major divisions of
elective courses:

I. Power, II. Electronics, III. Communication, and IV. Computer

The elective courses are offered in the fourth academic year i.e. on 10th, 11th and 12th semesters. A
student must take seven elective courses of 25.50 credits out of which four from his/her chosen major
fields and three from any of the other major fields as minor.

Course load may vary in a semester depending upon the credits taken by a student. In the last academic
year, students have to perform a Thesis/Senior Project under the guidance of a faculty supervisor.
All theory courses in EEE program are of 3 (three) credits each and is allocated 3 (three) contact hours
of teaching. All the lab courses are of 1.5 credits and allocated 3(three) contact hours of teaching for
each lab course.

The remedial course is equivalent to 1.5 credits and 3 (three) contact hours. But a student will earn 0
(zero) credit in this course.

Admission requirements for B. Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE):

1. For the HSC or equivalent level students:

   • Science background with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in SSC and HSC or equivalent level.
     • GPA of at least 2.50 or 2nd Division in both the SSC and the HSC examinations; OR
     • GPA of at least 2.00 either in the SSC or the HSC examination, but the total GPA in both the examinations must be at least 6.00; OR
     • 'O ' Level with at least 5 subjects and 'A' Level with at least 3 subjects and O-level and A-level students must have an average grade of B; OR
   • In case of sons/daughters of Freedom Fighters, a total GPA of at least 5.00 in both the SSC and the HSC Examinations. The official proof of the Father /Mother as a Freedom Fighter must be submitted.
   • Prospective students may need to sit for an admission test.

2. For the Diploma (Engineering) students:

   • SSC with Physics, Higher Mathematics & Chemistry GPA 2.5 and above.
   • Three/Four years Diploma in Engineering from Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4 .00 OR
   • A Diploma recognized by BTEB with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.00 in any engineering discipline from a recognized institute.
   • Proof Physics, Chemistry & Maths in Diploma level is a must
   • Prospective students may need to sit for an admission test.

Admission Procedure for B. Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE):

Admission form and prospectus are available in the admission office/ reception desk. After the verification of necessary documents, the successful applicants must deposit the admission fees and sign on the application form to complete the admission process.

The following documents are needed at the time of admission:

• Two passport size color photographs (studio lab print with white background for ID card purpose).
• Photocopies of SSC/O-Level, HSC/A-Level/Diploma, or equivalent examinations certificates and mark sheets/transcripts, SSC/O-Level registration card and birth certificate/ national ID card (one copy each).
• Original certificates, mark sheets/transcripts, registration card and birth certificate /national ID card must be produced for verification by the officer of BUBT in charge of admission

Total cost  of B. Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering for Admission in Fall-2019-20:

1. For the HSC or equivalent level students: 409,490/-

2. For the Diploma (Engineering) students: 260,495/-
